CONSTITUTION OF THE ASSOCIATION OF OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

The association of Our Lady of Mount Carmel to be subject to, and at the disposal of the Hierarchy.

 The aims of the Association will be:

(a) The sanctification of its members

(b) To promote greater honour to the Holy Eucharist and to pray for priests and for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life.

(c) To promote the recitation of the Rosary – Rosary Circles, Rosary Rallies, Vigils of Prayer and similar activities.

(d) To promote the wearing of the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a mark that we have dedicated ourselves to Her service.

Only matters relevant to the work of the Association to be discussed in Central or Local Committees and such matter to remain private unless that committee decide otherwise.

 The Association to be in no way connected with matters unapproved by the Church, and all literature, before distribution, and all doctrinal matter, must have the approval of the Leader and Spiritual Director.

The Committee Structure of the Association:

(a) The Association’s Committee to consist of spiritual director (appointed by the Ordinary of the dioceses in which the Headquarters is situated, with the consensus of the Committee), Leader, Deputy Leader, Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer, of each Centre / Area recognised by the Committee. The Secretary shall be assisted by a Secretariat.

(b) Election of Officers. Seconded Nominations to be invited not less than three months prior to the elections; all nominations must be submitted in writing to the elections. Vacancies on the committee within a period of two years shall be filled by a majority vote of the Committee.

(c) Elections for the Committee shall be held at the first half-yearly meeting – the first election to take place in 1980.

(d) A Council consisting of the Officers of the Association i.e. Leader, Deputy Leader, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer with the Spiritual Director be empowered to meet as necessary and co-opt other members of the Association if required.

Any infringement of the Rules must be notified to the Association Leader immediately and, at the discretion of the Leader and in consultation with the Spiritual Director, any result in the suspension or expulsion of a group or member of a group.

The Rules may only be amended at an Association Committee meeting after prior notification to all Committee members.

A quorum for an Association Committee meeting shall consist of a minimum of ten members including the Association Leader or Deputy Leader.
